Our Pride Week community recognizes and embraces the origins of Pride as a political struggle for the rights, safety, and acceptance of 2SLGBTQ+ people, many of whom live at the intersections of multiple forms of marginalization by not only gender and sexuality, but also race, class, disability, neurodivergence, citizenship, age, religion, place of origin, and more. A celebration of the U of A's 2SLGBTQ+ community, Pride Week is also an opportunity to reflect on our campus and ourselves.

Pride Week is a collaboration with the campus community and the Fyrefly Institute. Besides creating Pride Week, Fyrefly has served 2SLGBTQ+ people for more than twenty years, fighting for queer rights since before marriage equality was achieved in Canada. Every year, our thriving programs and services reach and support thousands of people throughout the province.
